Song Of The Day 1995: Sunny Day Real Estate - Friday

Part 2 of our 1995 week.

Back in January of 2008, I was out in Los Angeles for the NAMM show and to see Jeremy Enigk's incredible solo performance at The Troubadour. Jeremy Enigk is the singer of Seattle's Sunny Day Real Estate - a great band that put out four albums in their time, broke up twice, and now are back together after a reunion tour.  Today's featured song is from their self-titled second album, which is commonly referred to as The Pink Album. This is the lead-off track called Friday. I've also included a live video from October 2009 when Sunny Day played at The Marquee Theatre here in Arizona. Please enjoy.

Song Of The Day 1995: Pulp - Common People

We had a request for the year 1995 on our Facebook page.  Day 1, here we go...

Today's featured song is Common People from Pulp. A great track from their fifth album, Different Class. I've included a couple extra videos below for you to check out.  The first is the official video, a live performance and then William Shatner's cover version! Yes, William Shatner. It's pretty rad, so be sure to listen. Have a great week.  :)

Song Of The Day 1979: Joy Division - Transmission

This week's theme is 1979.  Here we go...

Shortly after Manchester's Joy Division released their debut album, Unknown Pleasures in June 1979, they released the fantastic single Transmission. If you aren't familiar with Joy Division, I just cannot begin to recommend them enough. Buy this single immediately. They were truly one of the greats.  Turn up your speakers and please enjoy.
