Today begins a new series on Life On This Planet called Discover. In this semi-regular feature, I will be highlighting some up-and-coming bands that I feel are worthy of your attention. Sometimes it takes a while to get around to listening to things sitting in my mailbox, or on my desk - but within 30 seconds of hearing 'Operator's Dream' by Icons Of Andria, I'm glad that I finally got around to clicking 'play' on this one. Based out of Los Angeles, Icons Of Andria are currently working on a Sci-Fi concept album - for which they release each track as a free download as its completed, ala The Smashing Pumpkins. Currently, there are four tracks up - including today's featured song, 'Operator's Dream.' I was immediately impressed with the strong production and beautiful vocals of singer Fabiola Sanchez. The song lies somewhere between Mazzy Star, Belly and Magnet's 'Willow's Song' from the Wicker Man soundtrack.
