Until last night, I have never seen any of the Saw movies. What a shame! A quick plot if you haven't seen Saw. Two guys wake up, chained to pipes on opposite sides of an abandoned, filthy bathroom. In between is a dead man, face-down in blood. In each of their pockets is a cassette tape with instructions, thus unfolding a very creepy and intricate story. Cary Elwes (from The Crush) plays one of the captives, Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) makes an appearance as a detective, and 2 actors from the TV show Lost - Michael Emerson and Ken Leung. Now I gotta go out and get Saw 2!
Some interesting trivia from IMDB:
1. Saw was filmed in just 18 days.
2. The actors had no rehearsals. The 'rehearsal' takes are actual footage of the film.
3. Originally intended to be a straight-to-video release. After positive pre-screenings, it was given the go-ahead for theatrical release.
I'm with you Bret. I held off on these films for the longest time. Finally viewed it, and found it very enjoyable. Somewhere between Saw III and the present, they lost me though. The first couple were quite good.
