This week we're going to pause from our regular feature to stay current with some new music released in the last few months. Keep up to date on all my daily postings by clicking LIKE on the Life On This Planet Facebook Page.
After the breakup of Bauhaus in 1983, singer Peter Murphy collaborated with bass player Mick Karn (of the band Japan) to record a one-off album - The Waking Hour - under the name Dalis Car. The two reunited in 2010, recording a collection of songs for a second Dalis Car release. Unfortunately, Mick Karn passed away in January 2011, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Just a few weeks back, Murphy announced that the recently-recorded tracks will be released this year as an EP called In Glad Aloneness.
Last night, the first song was released called Artemis. It originally appeared as an instrumental on The Waking Hour, but this new version is complete with Peter Murphy's vocals. Like the original Dalis Car, it's not immediately accessible, so give it a few listens to really get in tune with its atmosphere - parts of it hint at some moments of Bowie's Lodger album.
Unfortunately, I do not have an audio clip to share with you. Artemis is available as a download, direct from Mick Karn's website. All proceeds go to his wife and son, so please show your support. Here is a link to his site - registration just takes a few seconds.
In the meantime, here's a track from the original album. This is The Judgement Is The Mirror from 1984. Please enjoy.
