B-side Of The Day: The Cure - Breathe

Since bands have been releasing singles, it was common for a non-album track to make the flipside of that record. Sometimes those songs were just throw-aways, other times they were brilliant compositions. For the next couple of weeks, these are the songs I'll be presenting to you. I'm hoping you will discover some new tracks that will become favorites. Follow my daily postings by clicking LIKE over at the Life On This Planet Facebook Page.

When it comes to b-sides, The Cure are masters. If you don't have the time (or the money) to run around collecting all of the different formats of their singles, you can grab 2004's Join The Dots - a 4-disc box set, collecting mostly all of their b-sides and non-album tracks. Join The Dots is essential for any Cure fan, as many of their b-sides surpassed some of the album tracks. Take a look at my Best of The Cure List, which includes the 5 Best non-album tracks. Okay, so today's featured b-side is taken from the flipside of the 1987 UK single Catch (it was also on the Just Like Heaven US single). Please enjoy Breathe - it's pretty amazing.

  1. I like this song Bret! We have JtheDots, but I haven't listened to it much, and this is a keeper!

  2. Thanks Lew. You need to get it out! The first 2 discs are the best part. :) Do it.
