Planet Rotations #33

In the age of digital music, we tend to skip through albums, listening to one or two tracks - missing some of the deeper cuts that may be brilliant. I am a big fan of the album format, and love to experience the entire album the way the artist intended. Listening to one or two songs is like randomly reading a few chapters of a book and expecting to understand the completed work. Like any music lover, I love to share what I'm listening to and discover some new things from friends. Here's a portion of my playlist for this week. Please put your lists in the comments below, or interact at the Life On This Planet Facebook or Twitter.

  1. God I love Catastrophe Ballet. With all the drama that surrounded the band after Rozz left, people tend to forget that Valor played a significant part in two of the best Christian Death albums of all time. Of course it was always Rozz's vision at heart, but Valor brought a certain cohesion and structure to the band on CB and Ashes. For some reason, people who hate each other can often make incredible music together.

  2. Thanks for stopping by, Jonathan. Yeah, CB and Ashes are my two favorites from CD. I think the 'rockin' guitar of Valor really worked well with the other atmospherics in the sound at the time. Made for an interesting blend... like a lot of great bands, it was such a short period of time.. just a couple of years, and they created some really amazing stuff.
